Talking Running an M54 without a valvecover and making a HUGE mess!!

I was goofing around on youtube today and saw a video of an M20 running without a valve cover and I thought " I gotta try this". Haha, WELL I ended up making a huge mess! I knew theyre was gonna be SOME oil slinging but not that much! It was kinda cool to watch, and my engine compartment got a nice cleaning afterwards so it wasnt all that bad.

Feel free to laugh your arses off like I did. I know Im bound to get some kind remarks for this one.

I was wondering what that would be like yesterday. Thank you for doing this for me.

Edit: just watched it, lol'd. Apparently engines sound hilarious under the valve cover

The timing chain shot oil about 10ft and it got all over the wall.

My Ride: slow and steady
My grandfather had a textiles factory with massive looms. The action of the looms moving back and forth making the thread into cloth sound exactly the same!

Now that you've done this, I don't have to wonder anymore!

I knew a very old mechanic who would do this once in a while. It is no where as messy on a pushrods engine. In fact, there was very little oil splatter. Great video.
