Cat cleaning can save you cash!!

A few months ago my engine light came on! I read the fault codes and they were (1) Catalytic converter efficiency Cyl #1-3 (2) Oxygen sensor control limit Cyl #1-3 I was told that I have to replace the cat and an o2 sensor I planned to replace these as soon as I could afford it, so in the mean time I reset the light every time it came back on which ranged from a few hours to a couple of days, I decided to buy the parts when I got paid in April but before then I had a chat with a BMW technician and he told me to clean the cat before I lay out for the new parts! so I bought a bottle of "cataclean" which he recommended, I did what it said on the tin "empty bottle into a half full tank and run for 10-15 mins) I then re-set the light and fault codes and waited for the light to come back on............ its been just over a month now and still no engine light/fault codes the manufacturers say it should be used every 3-4 months and I paid 11 quids for the bottle so quite a saving over a new cat. hope this is of some interest
