Cheap E46 PARTS in Sacramento?

talked to a friend and his sons 01 330ci finally bit the dust (overheat w/ sweet milky juice) after driving without reverse (GM tranny) for so many months... he replaced it now with a bnew camry and im thinking of buying it for a project car since it's gonna be warmer soon..

im gonna be needing a used 3L engine and a transmission..

now question:

1: where is the best place to buy in sacramento or nearby?
2: how bout auction places? i can probably bid&buy a whole wrecked car instead and transplant the rest but where..
3: any salvage parts/place i can go to or shops?

all i know is craigslist but pretty it's gonna be expensive there..

ow forgot to ask, if i will buy a used engine from craigslist - how much would be the ballpark for a 3L 330Ci 2001..
