Considering these mirrors

My mirrors are staring to age on my '99 and I came across these. If I got them I would have them professionally painted first. What do you guys think, too ricey, or should I give them a chance for $35? http://www.ebay.com/itm/99-05-BMW-E4...sories&vxp=mtr

Yeah, I saw that. If I get them I'll probably find some factory connectors at the junkyard and solder them so it will be PnP.

Yeah, I'll take them to a body shop and have then painted AW. I don't trust myself enough and I want these done right.

They have an E36 M mirror look to them... I personally would not do it.

If there's one thing I'm slowly learning: When it comes to our cars, don't take shortcuts and cheap out on gear. You will inevitably regret it and spend more fixing it later on down the line. Do it properly first time. I understand trying to budget and getting value for your money, but honestly at the end of the day, you get what you pay for.

They are the E36 style mirrors, which for some reason I love the looks of.

I understand what you're saying, I just wanted to guinipig it just to see how it looks for E36 style mirrors to be on the E46. I've searched all over and can't seem to find a good pic of them.

They don't look bad. Interested to see how they look on the car.

I bought similar and they look way better than stock. Mine came with clear lights on the side that I blacked out. Just be careful screwing them together, they are cheap plastic and you can easily crack the mounting posts. I just cut the wires for the built in led's.

You're not guinea-pigging anything.

Those are Hagus style mirrors, which many original E46 owners went with. True Hagus mirrors are tough to find now. One of the mods here, CD330, put them on not long ago.

They definitely look better than standard E46 elephant ears.

Thanks for the input guys, this is the kind of feedback I was looking for. How much do you think a shop will charge to paint them?

For reference, here's CD330's thread so you can see how they turn out on a sedan:

http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthr...630&highlight=

Shops will vary on paint costs....probably anywhere from $100-$200.

Also, id be willing to bet that hole in the mirror will make the most annoying whistle noise at highway speed. Porsches have that and it is so obnoxious with the window down.

Thanks for the link. I'm seriously considering them now, I think they'd look pretty good on my AW.

Well say good bye to your heated glass and memory mirrors (if you had them). they only have three wires, GL.

if the car is heavily modded it might look ok, but on a stock sedan that would look strange imho.

I don't have memory, just heated, and here in Alabama they aren't really used any way. I'm going to see if I can find someone to do the paint work for a decent price, then I'll probably pick them up.

I had them on my last 330ci

look in my garage for photos.

I like them better than the dumbo ears, theyre alot lighter and used by alot of the racing teams..cheap easy to replace.

had a hard time with electrical motor though...
