How to get exhaust "burble"
I recently rode around in my friend's 335i, and I have a newfound appreciation for that awesome burble sound when decelerating. Is there anything I can do to or get for my ZHP exhaust to give it that burble sound when decelerating, without getting a whole new exhaust system?
Thanks, Nick |

I'm not 100% sure but I think this sound is just drowned out by the muffler or resonator. You can get this bit chopped out of your system quite cheap and you should get some 'burble'. I'm sure some one more knowledgeable on exhausts will confirm this or shoot me down as a noob

ah ok but why does a car like the 335i have that burble stock? it still has a muffler and resonators...I've also heard that new tips will help that. Does anyone have a recommendation of tips for a ZHP exhaust?

ok thanks all, and one more: Idk how to describe it, but as the RPMs drop lower there's sort of a subtle popping or crackling noise in the exhaust that I noticed. Any way to get that?

I think I hear what you are talking about. It is just the way the mufflers are set up. I think with an aftermarket setup you will hear what. Search around the forum for aftermarket exhaust clips or on Youtube for the E46.

+1 .........
I got a muffler delete also. Love the way it sounds. Just perfect. Not too loud, not too quite & definitly not civic like. Has the perfect deep growl/tone. Just dont put headers on & you'll eb fine

delete the muffler + 2nd resonator... I love that sound too... doing only the muffler will give a deeper tone but for that burble sound you want, 2nd resonator too... gl

You can do it bit by bit to see if it's to your liking... I did the muffler delete first and about 6 months later did the 2nd resonator... the sound with both deleted is loud but not wake up the dead loud... its just enough that it's a head turner and I get alot of compliments on mine... oh yeah police is not a worry in my area...

How much would a muffler delete and removal of the second resonator cost?
