As a man of aerospace I have little concern for the opinions of groundlings! If getting to a remote destination was my goal, well there's helicopters and bush planes for that. Cars are fun toys meant to be refined.

Or perhaps it's more a reflection of my persona, a rough shell on the outside with a soft and friendly inside .

Diesel here in Sweden costs about the same as petrol. Sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less.

One of the issues with diesel cars is their service costs. They have a particle filter that needs to be replaced after a certain amount of time and it costs a lot of money. Otherwise they are great cars, good mileage, mostly quiet and lots of torque.

Lol if I had a 335d I don't think I'd get all the advantages of higher mpg's since I'd have my foot buried in the throttle every chance I get. The torque they have is a lot of fun.

Diesel is less expensive in most countries in europe. But at the same time, in my country, when you buy a brand new car, the more price you pay for a diesel engine can be anywhere from $5-10,000.

Ive had a 320D before, and i currently drive a 2.0 TDi VAG engine (Seat Altea). Love the way they pull and better the better mileage.

You still would, it's all relative. After driving (flogging) a 335i for a couple days I was averaging 16.2 mpg vs 20.1 in the 335d.

Political reasons aside;

-More complicated and expensive emissions system, mainly because relatively new technology.
-Stronger and more expensive engine components, to deal with the much greater compression ratios and torque.
-Stronger and more expensive drivetrain to deal with with the much greater torque.

That's enough to be $2-10k more
