Thumbs Up e46 rubber piece behind radio

Hello e46 fans just wanted to know what is that little rubber piece that screws on to that bolt coming from the radio?

My Ride: 2004 330xi
I hade mine out today, installing a aux input. It looks like it's just a support for the head unit, theres a hole in the plastic frame that looked like it would line right up.
