Question about front struts
Hey guys. about a year or so ago after coming home from deployment I had to change my front strut mounts due to alignment issues. I did so, but while I was down there I went ahead and replaced the struts as well. What I didnt realize is that my car had the M sport package and I ordered Bilstein HD (non sport) struts so the car sits slightly higher in the front. Over the past year, I havent driven the car much because I have another vehicle, there's absolutely nothing wrong with the bimmer, I just alternate which one I drive each month but that height is painful to look at.
I still have the original sport strut I removed. Do you think that at 95k miles (removed them at about 91k) I should throw the original ones back in? I mean, it might even be temporary until I unload the HDs and buy new sports anyway (but double the work )What are your thoughts? (other than the obvious "you should've bought the right ones in the first place" answers would be appreciated) Last edited by BOURBON; 02-18-2013 at 12:21 PM. |

Are you 100% sure the strut is mounted completely in the knuckle? I did the struts on my 323 about 2 months ago and I didn't realize until maybe 2 weeks ago that the strut wasn't completely seated in the knuckle. Once I figured it out the car lowered about a 1/2" or so. I have the Bilstein Touring on mine fwiw.

Oh they're completely in and I noticed while i was installing them the new ones are slightly larger than the OEM so I had issues getting them in place.

See but now if I went with the springs, would I buy the kit for the sport suspension, or without because I already have sport springs installed and they're still about a half inch higher than before changing struts.
