Sorry I know the XD's are not common in the US. But I can tell you with about 250 hp and 520Nm The XD is quite fun to drive as well. The perfect combination of fun and convenience. In addition I climb any hill in The winter...

The ole 323i sedan sees anywhere from 60 to 100 miles per weekday. I set cruise control at 79 MPH (speed limit 70) and the needle stays at about thirty to thirty one MPG. She only drinks Sunoco Premium (I'd do s
Shell if it was more convenient than Sunoco,) and runs like a dream. I'd probably consider driving a 330 if I didn't spend the entire freaking day on the highway. The fewer horses in my 323i are enough to get me in trouble but still give me pretty great gas mileage. |

Whoa....I get 16-18mpg mostly because I only do city driving but not sitting in traffic. Is this normal?

I run premium in my car, lifetime average of 19 mpg. Maybe tops out at 22-23 on the highway.

Mine has nothing to do with the EPA, just a thirsty V8

Pro Tip: Don't cross shop sports cars based on gas mileage.

Note to self: Sarcasm doesn't translate well over the internets.
I want to be able to carry 4 people so the Vette is already out of the question even though the back seats on a Mustang are tight. Last edited by SamDoe1; 03-12-2013 at 04:34 PM. |

Definitely don't get a mustang with the expectation that anyone other than short midgets will fit comfortably in the back.

Always drops the drain plug

No matter what I seem to do, my average always ends up at 21 mpg. I can usually get in the high 20s or even low 30s if I'm on the highway at reasonable speeds in the summertime. But of course most of my miles are commuting, starting, stopping, and trying to avoid SUV drivers with a phone in one hand and a sandwich in the other. I feel "safer" with the Steptronic set to 'S' on my commute. This of course only encourages my pedal foot, and I end up arriving home with another 21 mpg commute.
In my area, Shell 93 octane is often 10 to 15 cents more expensive than Kroger or Speedway. Does it make much of a difference? In the end, I doubt any part upgrade, fuel change, or $900 tire swap is going to be any more effective than smooth controlled acceleration, staying in the right lane, and simply embracing my soul-sucking commute time under or at the speed limit. But on my commute, I have to ask myself: is it worth the 92¢ extra in gas to arrive home 5 minutes sooner and get out of traffic? I'll answer that with a "yes" every single day.

Well, I average about 26 mpg, can get 30+ on the interstate. My "average" driving area is hilly, somewhat open country roads, and limited access 65 mph highway. My Honda gets better, around 29, my Subarus do a little worse, 23ish. Overall, I can't complain given the level of performance and comfort the car provides.

US gallon. 53 mpg - highway driving 70-75mph. Better than 60 mpg possible on trips with constant driving in 50 mph. 35-40 mpg in more city like driving

Sam, this is extreme achievement for 330xd, don't be over-impressed... just very few highly tuned can give such consumption.... but for 320d... that would be normal.
