Scrambled Pixels

I have a common problem with my Business CD but with a unique twist. I have a bunch of scrambled pixels but when I start the car in reverse, then turn the car off and turn it back on the display is fine. When I do the same procedure when starting the car in first gear it doesn't fix it, only when starting in reverse. The common response is to get a new head unit, and I may end up doing that but I thought I'd at least in case there's an easy fix.

How old is your battery? Are you experiencing any other electronix issues? Google "BMW E46 hidden OBC functions." Test #9 shows the system voltage. Check it when you do your "magic" shift into reverse trick.

Try this BMW approved reset procedure:
- remove the ground/negative/earth cable from the battery
- remove the positive cable from the battery
- short the 2 cables together for 10 minutes
- connect the positive cable to the battery
- connect the ground cable to the battery (sparks ok)
- reset the clock

This forces all electronic modules to perform a hard reboot.
