Obama holds off the record meeting with reporters

http://www.politico.com/blogs/media/...te-157569.html
Quote:
President Barack Obama held an off-the-record meeting with top White House reporters on Thursday afternoon, POLITICO has learned.

The meeting, with reporters from major print and television outlets, comes days after the White House Correspondents Association complained publicly about their lack of access to the president during a golf outing in Palm Beach, Fla., and one day after Obama met with local television reporters.

(Also on POLITICO: Obama, the puppet master)

White House press secretary Jay Carney declined to comment on the meeting.

"Potus has meetings all the time. I don't comment on all of them," he told POLITICO in an email.

(VIDEO: Carney answers press corps concerns about access)

WHCA president and Fox News White House correspondent Ed Henry did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the meeting.

On Sunday, Henry released a statement on behalf of the White House press corps expressing "extreme frustration... about having absolutely no access to the President of the United States" during his vacation in Florida and promised to fight for greater transparency. POLITICO followed that news on Monday night with an extensive report about the president's media relations strategy, noting that Obama's careful "limiting, shaping and manipulating" of the media had left reporters "scrambling for access." The president held one-on-one, on-the-record interviews with reporters from local television affiliates on Wednesday.

In a White House press briefing on Wednesday, Carney said he was "completely sympathetic" to the press corps' concerns about access.
Now why oh why would the white house have an off the record meeting with the media? Sounds more like a strategy session to me.

In related news: "Obama had eggs for breakfast."

Presidents have been having off-the-record meetings with reporters for time immemorial - nothing inherently nefarious about this practice.

Its because the liberal media machine and the president are organizing the next event so they can further encroach on your rights.

Why do people like you believe that the media is in Obama's pocket? If anything interesting was going on there would be a rush to be the first to report it.

This story goes along with the Politico "puppet master" story and it also goes along with the fact that Obama is the most protected by the media president that I can remember. Clinton never enjoyed this level of loyalty, he was regularly taken to task on things. Obama almost never is. That. Is. Why.

The mainstream media is irrefutably in his favor. To deny this discredits any point that follows from your post.

Shall I claim Fox ISN'T against Obama? It'd be equally laughable.

Actually, according to this point, MSNBC is even MORE pro-Obama than Fox is anti-Obama

Quote:
During the last week of the 2012 presidential campaign, Fox News and MSNBC both took a dramatically negative tone toward President Obama and Mitt Romney, respectively.

68 percent of MSNBC's coverage of Romney was negative during from Oct. 29-Nov. 5, up from 57 percent in October. That doesn't sound too surprising, except that Pew found 5 percent of MSNBC's Romney coverage was positive from Oct. 1-28, while it found no positive coverage of Romney when it looked at the final week's stories. It also found no negative coverage of Obama.

They're frustrated because they weren't invited to Florida with him?
