Did you mean to include that pic? White pizza is good and all but...

I'm not a fan of NY style thin pizza..I won't say I love deep dish although it is good..I like somewhere in the medium, not too thick, and not too thin to where it's essentially cheese on a cracker to me.

You cannot compare Chicago Style Deep Dish to NY Style Thin Crust. That's like comparing a lasagna to a bowl of spaghetti with meatballs.

NY Thin>NY Sicilian>Chicago>NY STYLE not in NY/NJ/CT>Chicago style outside of chicago. I do like Deep dish, but I consider it more of a dish like lasagna and not pizza.

There is a VERY big difference between NY pizza which is only available in NY/NJ/CT and NY STYLE pizza. There is also a vast difference between a gourmet slice (brick oven, thinner crust, more char, etc) to a street slice. I prefer street slices, but once in a while, I will be in the mood for a nice brick oven pie.

The char is one of the reasons I live the pizza from coal-fired pizza ovens!

I can't eat that all the time though. I still prefer great quality NYC street pizza....personal opinion of course.

you bring up another point:
as far as i know, there's no such thing as chicago-style deep dish "street" pizza; it's always a sit-down/big meal sort of thing. nobody is walking into a pizzeria in chicago and getting a "slice" of deep dish for 2 bucks for lunch. as such, it's completely unfair to compare it to ny "street" pizza like a typical ray's pizza anywhere in the city, when it should properly be compared to a gourmet, legit pizzeria in ny (e.g. grimaldis, lombardis, etc).

I agree. But since I only get there once in a great while now, that's where I go!

That and a Nuts 4 Nuts cart! And pretzels if course! All the healthy stuff!

There are places that sell it by the slice. Even a place like Sbarro does.

I've been to Bronx and quite frankly I wasn't too impressed.

Have you ever tried Volteros? It used to be in Clairemont but just moved to Kearny Mesa. Now that is good Pizza. $2.75 gets you a massive slice, two of which are difficult to finish. It's not paper thin either, the pizza supports itself.

Wanna have some fun and make some money? Bet your friend they can't eat a NYC street slice in under a minute. Make it a $10 bet. Profit. Fun to watch.

I like the east coast.

Just got tired of hearing her ignorant generalizations. I like Cali and the people just not the state government.

I'll put money on it. I've done this bet with A LEAST 50 people over the years. Only a single person was able to do it.

What's the hangup? I would imagine the chewiness of the crust, coupled with the flour (or flour like substance) on the bottom makes it pretty tough. That and the cheese.

The trick is to fold the pizza and have a glass of water on hand to keep your mouth from drying out.
