** UPDATED PICS! ** [AUS] Group Buy - CUSTOM MADE Headers

Reposting this as original post has become abit hijacked and updating it with detailed pics.

Hi all,

I have been in touch with a exhaust workshop that is willing to do a group buy on "custom" made headers for our vehicles.

This is the same place where another E46 fanatic member got his headers made from, Davconelectric

See his thread here: CLICK ME

He has also advised me he is willing to make headers for any model E46 as long as he can get one of those models in his workshop to work off.
So for example if a Sydney member wants headers for a 2.5l and there is a Melbourne fanatic with a 2.5l, he will duplicate the same headers.

Headers will NOT be coated, this is something I am also trying to organise with Zircotec (http://www.zircotec.com.au/)
This is the premium top notch ceramic coating that do some cool colors and do not fade over time. I will have group prices on this shortly but expect it to be $300+.

Non VIC members who are interested, I am willing to ship these to you coated or un-coated.

Current price for headers, worst case scenario is $1,000. (Installed VIC members only). This price will drop with more people who can purchase in this group buy however, I cannot lower the price for non VIC members, (you are already buying a bargain anyway).

Please post below if you are interested.
I am hoping to have this settled in 2-3 weeks max.

Non VIC members, PM me for bank details or for bank details for the exhaust workshop.
I am NOT making any money off this, VIC members may pay me or the workshop directly

** PICS! **

Ok before you see the pics...
Dave pulled these off his car tonight, please note and understand, this is NOT the finished product.
This still needs to be sanded to a smooth finish and it needs to be coated.
But it gives you all a much better idea of the product.

Finally, Id like to add....

You can spend $2500 buying other headers.. but bear in mind, your paying duties/import fee's and retail markups, you also then need to pay to get them fitted. Headers on a AU car i.e like a commodore/falcon are dirt cheap, the reason these are 1k is because they are locally made, it really is no difference, the performance and sound gains are there as with any other header, maybe not as much as a high end product that has been researched etc but still as Dave will tell you it sounds better and pulls alot harder, any header is a improvement on stock.

So seriously, don't miss out on a chance to get headers which are a bitch for our RHD E46s at a bargain price.

oh and also, we measured the length of each pipe, their all basically spot on in length, 1 was abit shorter but not by much at all, not even a cm.

I don't know about every e46, but mine had 2 sets of cats. One set in the headers, which were deleted, and another set just behind the collectors, which are still there.

Headers have been sent off to "jet hot coating" in castlemaine for black ceramic coating. I should have them back by Friday. I will take more pics then. Before I sent them off to get coated I had a good going over welds and bends, overall quality of job, and to tell you the truth... It's a bit rough, and I'm not gonna put my name to any sort of recommendation. There is a noticeable improvement in performance, but for $1000 cash, I could have gotten a better set made somewhere else. Perhaps Glenroy exhaust.

I just feel that for $1k, which I know isn't all that much. There could be better made by a more "specialize" exhaust shop. I got quoted $1000 by Glenroy exhaust as well. I know for a fact that they do amazing work. The only reason I went with Ben was to keep things local. I'm not saying there's any major issues with what I have, just feel that they could be better built.

I generally don't speak to people after I get work done I'm not happy with. I just never go back.

Just from the photos it is only the welding lets it down but having said after a cleanup and the coat they will look great.

Just make sure you get them faced before you bolt them up.

Yea man when I saw the welding I wasn't 100% impressed with it, but that said its superficial. As long as there's no gaps/leaks that's fine.
I knew once coated and machined they'd be alot better to the eye, I'm sure where your getting them coated they will smooth it all out to ensure all the coating sticks fine and evenly.

We will see the final product soon and go from there!

Yeah those welds looked dodge. Hope they hold up for you. I'm still looking around myself I showed a specialist here in Canberra and they think they can do it better. They have been doing my exhausts on various cars for the last 18 year so I trust them. Out of interest somebody mentioned you can have the LHD modified to fit? Can anybody enlighten me to what's entailed?

So you think Glenroy exhausts can do a better job at the same price?

It was the first place I rang about headers. They quoted $1000 over the phone. Give em a call and maybe email pictures of mine.
