Kinda sad but happy, Desert Eagle traded for Colt

Had some fun years with the black .50AE Desert Eagle. Had a hell of a time always trying to find ammo locally for it and shooting it at the range got way too much attention. I have nothing bad to say about it, just was time for a change and a 70 Series Colt Combat Commander in LIKE NEW CONDITION was offered in trade with 3 grips. I had to jump on that. The blue is so nice it looks like chrome in the crappy pic. I think I did very well and good, even trade. I will use this gun quite a bit more than the Desert Eagle. Still like my Kimber also. Tomorrow, waiting on a deal for a WWII 1943 Government Ithaca.....will see how that goes.

Congrats on the new pistol! Series 70 1911's are phenomenal

Was that a straight trade? I'm pretty certain you lost out on that one - a series 70 commander is not worth $1600-1700....

.50AE is just a hell of a good time to shoot.. but unless your trying to be an action star in a movie it really serves no purpose.

You made a good move. The DE isn't anything but a name and a "special" cartridge that is tough to find.

Fun as shit to shoot though. I traded into one recently. Fun to pull out at the range put a mag through then go on with the rest of your regular shooting lol. You get a lot of looks il tell you that.

Hope there was some $$$ coming your way.

I've got a hell of a 1911 if your interested listed on gunbroker right now. It's my wilson combat CQB. Out of all of the semi customs I've owned this has been the best shooting 1911 that I've ever owned. Kinda want a new project so the ol WC will have to go.

I am happy with it. I had to figure what I would use more and what would keep value in the end. The Desert Eagle was a very fun weapon. Stripping it down to the bolt was awesome to see how it operates. The ammo was just not practical and people at the indoor range pissed and moaned everytime I shot the thing. Also, finding ammo locally was difficult.....not to say finding ammo now for a 22 is easy, LOL. It actually is a pre 80 series since from my understanding they did not make a 70 series Combat Commander in that year. The serial does check out with the Colt website as a 1975 model though. My only gripe is it did not come with the original box. Those things run over $100 if you can find one with paperwork. For me though, I will just keep it a shooter. Still love my 1911 Kimber Raptor II though in stainless.
