Dynavin v5 Question - how to get BMW logo to appear on startup?

Just throwing it out there to some other Dynavin v5 owners, I recently installed the Dynavin v5 unit which is a great investment, best $640 I have spent and makes my 325i look way more upmarket. Thanks Jason

Only issue is, I don't know how to get the BMW logo to appear on startup? It currently displays the dynavin logo but I've been told you can set the BMW logo to appear instead.

I've gone thru all the setting menu's and instruction manual, and searched the net but can't seem to work it out. Can anyone help?

Cheers, RJ.

Have you checked out dynavin free forum? I'm pretty sure there was a thread over there all about this issue, I'm just not sure what version unit it was or if still worked for all units.

There is an update for the unit, that must be installed along with the TV tuner update.

It only changes the start up screen - the rest of the UI is still as fugly as all hell. Not sure how it makes your BMW 'more upmarket'...

There's a firmware update for the V5 Dynavin that also gives you the BMW logo at startup.
Download - http://dynavin.freeforums.org/download/file.php?id=218

Info -

Quote:
About this firmware update:
Release date 20.10.2010.a.
BMW logo loading screen
English language

New features:
Controlling iPod from steering wheel buttons

Fixed problems:
RDS info is now displayed correctly

Important!
1. This update is only for V5 (sunplus chip) Dynavin devices for E46 and E39. This firmware is for the radio part of the unit.
2. Never turn the unit off or start the car while updating!
3. If you have a external Dynavin DVB-T box, then you need to update it first! Otherwise you will loose DTV controls. Scroll down for the new DVB-T box firmware if you need it, you will find it in post #5 in this thread.
4. This update is delivered in two parts (zh_mcu.bin and zh8202t.bin), you need to update with both files in the order explained below.

Updating...
How to update in 10 steps:
1. Unrar the "Dynavin V5 (sunplus) firmware BMW logo 201010.rar" on your PC. You should find 2 files (zh_mcu.bin and zh8202t.bin) and this How_to_update.txt
2. Connect a USB memory stick to your PC, delete everything from USB memory stick.
3. Put the zh_mcu.bin file in root of USB memory stick.
4. Turn off Dynavin and connect the USB memory stick to DVD-USB cable on your Dynavin.
5. Dynavin should turn on and update should start automatically, now just wait until the system turns off (should take about one minute).
6. Remove the USB memory stick and go back to your PC.
7. Delete the zh_mcu.bin file from USB memory stick and put zh8202t.bin on USB memory stick.
8. Dynavin should still be off, connect the USB memory stick to DVD-USB cable on your Dynavin again.
9. Dynavin should turn on and update should start automatically, now just wait until the screen turns off (Dynavin won't turn off completely this time, just the display will go black, this should take also about one minute).
10. Turn Dynavin off by holding the power button for a few seconds, then remove the USB memory stick and you are done.
This info and download was taken from this thread at Dynavin Free Forums, hope it helps.

Like aar0n_91, I performed the update last night, only took 5mins! Quick and painless and I now have the BMW Logo on startup.

Cheers Darkoz for finding that firmware update and instructions, champion!

You want the BMW logo on your D99?
select AUX-IN as the source and press '9' on your remote control
OR
go to settings > system and tap the top right corner of the screen

either way you get to the menu where you can change your logo.

Hope this helps.
