Where did I mention terrorism? The comments were NOT aimed to say that the religion is one of violence... rather that it is one of oppression, the very term they constantly yell in the US while demanding x, y, or z. When people raised an eyebrow at the mosque being constructed next to the 9/11 memorial, people claimed bigotry and intelligence.. And yet, if I were to go into the middle east to open a church, I'd likely be assaulted or murdered. And god forbid I expect my girlfriend to accompany me wearing "American styled" clothing...

Christianity is rooted in oppression. That's unless you ignore the Bible. And if that's the case... you're a terrible Christian.

When you mockingly bring up the "peace and tolerance" bit, it's pretty easy to infer what you're talking about.

I love the downplay of "raising an eyebrow". People were downright apoplectic over the IDEA of building that mosque, and you know it.

I don't see how comparing the two (mosque here, church in the ME) is even slightly valid, frankly. Since people act like ignorant bigots over there, does that mean we should, as well? That's not very Christian of you.

Maybe that's why the Pope is retiring.

Let's also clarify that certain parts of Islam will say the same of Christians. It all depends on what hat you're wearing.

And again, implying that all of Islam is CURRENTLY oppressive/barbaric is like saying all Russians are good for nothing vodka drunks who need to gtfo out MY country. Or that all Roman Catholics rape little kids. Such generalizations are hilarious.

I never used the word "all." I didn't even use the word "most." It is only "some." The problem is, that "some" includes more than a few countries, and tens of millions of people.

Are you referring to the "some" or the "all"?

This is extremely ignorant. Reason being, Jesus teaches us in the new testament that there are two laws above all others. To love god and to love your neighbor as yourself. The old testament is littered with wrath, anger, hatred, oppression, etc... but Jesus arrives, tells us that is all backwards, and gives us a revised word of god.

That revised presentation is NOT oppressive. It's inclusive, loving, and compassionate.

Now you can sit there and ignorantly accept that notion.. you can sit there and hate on Christianity.. but to do so is FAR more ignorant than for me to state that Muslim countries are extremely oppressive. At least my comment is rooted in the reality that, in those countries, their is no tolerance of contrary opinion, lifestyles, or conflicting religions. In Muslim regions, women, gays, any other religion, and all those groups that the US supports the defense of are castrated, ostracized, and hated upon by the masses.... sorry but this is simply a fact.

Am I saying we should be bigots? Of course not. I'm simply mocking their religion of tolerance and calling them out for the obvious bigotry that is routine over there. It astounds me that idiots like CINL (as seen above) can equate Christianity with Islam (in it's current state).

There are still plenty of strange quotes in the NT. I'm not even going to get into the conversation about the OT vs. the NT. The idea of jesus coming into the picture and saying "Ah, the OT? Just kidding! Trolololol" has always struck me as very weird.

Have you even held a copy of a Qu'ran much less read some of the passages? It's littered with just as much compassion and warm feelings as the bible is, and also has just as much crazy sh1t in it like the bible does. People all throughout history have used their religion of choice to murder and cause harm so this is nothing unique. The main point is that that whole region over there has been steeped in violence for centuries. Is it a problem? Absolutely. Is it a problem of the entire religion? I don't think so.

I'm sure all of the female priests/bishops/cardinals agree with you about the tolerance bit. I bet the ones that are currently a part of the conclave to decide the new Pope agree, too. Oh, wait.....

Same with the gay priests.....well, they're probably in there, actually.

Tens of millions of people refers to a small percentage of the world's muslims, but that is still A LOT of people, that was my only point.
