Exclamation Car struggles/wont start HELP!!!!!

Hello,
I have had this problem ongoing for a few weeks now.

My car had been taking longer and longer to start as it would crank over but engine wouldnt ignite until the 3rd or 4th try.

It got to the point where if i drove to work (45 mins) it would start once i had finished work sometimes straight away and sometimes after a few turns. However if i was to drive to the shops (3 mins) it would struggle to start or sometimes or not start at all. I would then have to jump start the car and it was all good.

i bought a new battery which helped for a few days but then the problem continued.

i got a new alternator installed yesterday! then drove straight to work from the mechanics (about 20 mins) then after i finished work it took me 3 attempts to get her started again!!!

when i start it and the engine wont ignite the needle on the rev meter bounces up and down a bit.

DOES ANYONE KNOW WTF IS GOING ON????? HELP PLEASE!!!!

could it be that the new alternator needed more drive time than 20 mins to charge the battery???

Check your positive aux terminal on the passenger side beside the engine mounted near the strut (probably what your using to boost unless you were boosting the battery directly) It's probably loose and/or corroded.

Sounds like you are saying its cranking plenty but not turning over. Is it more likely to have trouble when it's been sitting for a while? If these things ring true to your situation, I can tell you I had the most difficult time fingering a leaky injector (wouldn't close fully) for my starting issues. Basically the thing would drip drip fuel into its cylinder over time until the cylinder completely filled up. Then in order to start the car it would have to crank many times and pump all that gas out of the cylinder before it could ignite. if I tried to restart the car shortly after driving it, there wouldn't be enough time for the gas to fill up the cylinder and it would start no problem.when my battery went soft it was hard not to believe it was an ignition problem. But replacing the injector fixed it.
