Bro I've spent over a grand on equipment in the past 2 weeks, and I still need to buy a bar, a bench, and floor padding. I need wait a little bit before I buy bumper plates lol.

If that's all you're ever going to do I would just buy a cheap bar on craigslist. If you think you are ever going to want to get into the olympic lifts and get bumpers I would get the economy bar. The rogue bar is pretty similar but has a lifetime warranty

Yes.

See link below to what I bought. It always goes on sale (~$300) for some reason plus free shipping.

http://www.amazon.com/Powerline-PPR2...3396337&sr=1-1

Browsing through bb.com, I see so many puuurty racks that I wish I would of spent more time researching before buying. Oh well, at least I'm lifting and will have an excuse to upgrade later on

I knew you would post something like that lol.

So, from my first look at the assembled rack:
-the spotter arms are really short (I am used to commercial equipment)
-the build quality is unbelievable
-it took me 25 minutes to set it up on my own
-sturdy as ****
-putting two plates on the cross member makes it instantly sturdier

Glight, thanks for the suggestion. I can't wait to pick up a bar and bench and start lifting in this thing!

I know this sounds outrageous but I am really loving the Ivanko bar without the centre knurl. I doubt I can use it to its potential so I'm looking to buy a great bar in the ~300 range (not 1000). I still need a bench too, suggestions?

Rogue bar is a great bar for $300 and will last forever. I have their flat bench and I think its a bargain at $175, but if you need an adjustable bench their prices are ridiculous.

Yeah I saw the price for the adjustable bench and my jaw dropped, mind you it looks like an awesome piece of equipment. What about a straight up SS bar like the B&R bar? I'm reading raving reviews on SS vs. coated.

My buddy has a b and r and I don't really like it. Too thick for my taste. Love how it ages and the finish (or lack there of), but it's really just a power lifting bar which doesn't have much to differentiate itself from a cheap bar.

Have you looked at the again faster team barbell? Great deal from what I hear.

just looked at them. They look pretty basic. I wish there was an outlet somewhere here where I could feel them out instead of shooting in the dark...

What about keeping your eye on craigslist or contacting some of the smaller gyms in your area to see if you can play 'lets make a deal'?

Just go to a local crossfit gym and tell them you are outfitting a home gym and want to see what the different bars feel like. As long as your contact them ahead of time I'm sure they'll be cool with it.

I grabbed the Rogue Bar. 350 shipped to Canada. Gonna pick out a bench tomorrow and pick up some chains. I think I just found a new addiction (not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing)

I figure it's a good starting bar, and don't need to buy the Ivanko yet. Maybe once I hit a 405 DL I will treat myself
