nice Project.

which stand alone will you use?

you need some rubber to hook, time to widen Wheel arches.

I didn't bother doing that. I just went to the wrecker and got on E46 6 cylinder cable throttle pedal and cable. They bolt straight in

What are you wanting to get working? Keep the factory ECU in the car, speedo runs off the abs so it will still work, use the BMW water temp sender in the 1j so your water temp gauge works, use the BMW oil pressure switch so you have a working oil pressure light, use the BMW ecu alternator light wire so your alternator light works, use the 1j ECU tachometer output to go into a Dakota digital tachometer box and the output of that into the tachometer input on the BMW ECU.

Things like oil level, water level etc you can just short out to clear those lights. And things like check engine, eml etc you can get the ecu programmed to turn these off.

All of this should work in theory. Im doing it all at the moment with an LS. I'm even going to measure the resistance of the oil temp gauge and get a temp sensor than is the same resistance so I still have the oil temp gauge as well.

Those motors seem to fit nicely in the e46 chassis. I saw another 1 or 2jz swapped e46 at a shop in south Florida last year.

Too bad we can't do this swap in Oz in an E46. We aren't allowed to put in an older engine than the age of the chassis due to emissions laws.
