A co-worker is selling a 2001 325ci - convertible with a bad tranny for 2000, willing to negotiate. High mileage 140+, all else is lookig good...body is clean, not Mango clean, but clean, interior has a rip on the driver seat but other than that it is doable... What do you all think, i was thinking, that even if I cannot bring it back to life, I could always part it out. The engine alone will get me close to half the price...

I'd buy that in a heartbeat if the motor is sound. Auto to manual for 1.5k with another 1-2k in maintenance and you have a solid E46 for 5k.

If you have the time and patience to sell everything go for it. Just try to guesstimate what you will get for each item (realistically) and see if it will give you any profit.
