Should I buy FX-R projectors or Morimoto Mini's

Im split on whether I should go with the FX-R projectors or Morimoto Mini H1's. I've heard a lot of good things about both projectors. Price isnt really a factor in this decision, but I do look for quality. I know that if I get the FX-R's that I will have to do some trimming with the shrouds but it probably wont be a big deal (pretty good with fabrication). I will buy the kit for whichever one I decide from The Retrofit Store. Does anyone have some personal experience with either projectors? Any input is appreciated.

For best output and crisp cut off and quality go FX-R if you don't mind money and having to modify to make it fit
Other wise for easy installation go morimoto's they pretty good as well!

Yeah, I am really leaning towards the FX-R's. How hard would you say the modification is if I were to purchase them?

FXR 3.0 projectors without a doubt.

Search for fxr diy and there's a few good threads on them. Niel1138 has a diy as well

FX-R hands down. I would never go back. I don't even know how my stock Xenons provided sufficient output for the last two years. Getting into other peoples cars at night, I often have to ask if their headlights on. Obviously they are, but it's THAT much of a difference that I'm used to.

That sounds excellent. Yeah, I want to light up the roads in front of me. The stock halogen bulbs I have now are just not getting the job done. Looks like the FX-Rs will be my next purchase. Thanks for the input

FX-Rs sound good but I heard something like that people were going back to E46 projectors for their long-range output and FX-Rs being too much foreground/wide? or have they updated their projectors since? I think TerraPhntm said this.

If I do FX-Rs here's my questions/concerns:

I have stock Bosch AL Xenon headlights.

1) Do I simply modify my existing headlights to accept the FX-Rs?

2) If so, which FX-Rs? 3.0 w/3" lens or 2.5" lens?

3) Bi-xenon wiring. I need an adapter or something, right?

4) I see from Neil's thread, JB kwik is used to mount the projectors? And screws too?

5) Can I re-use the existing OE shrouds?

6) Will the back of the headlight still be sealed or will the bigger projector bowl be sticking out? Reuse stock seal?

Most people retrofit these in aftermarket P46 headlights.I haven't seen any threads/DIYs where someone hacked stock E46 Xenon lights and retrofitted FX-Rs. links? I'm really terrified of hacking my OE headlights. So I want to be sure.

I'd buy a set of used halogen headlights to play around with to put the FXRs in.

I was thinking that too. But I want the quality OE high beam... Will all the input connectors be the same? it's been a while since i've had the headlights out. it's just a couple of 9006 inputs right? hope someone can answer all my questions. i'm not doing this anytime too soon maybe summer

If that's the case then do the Morimoto mini retrofit kit. It is super easy to install compared to an FXR retrofit with the same light output. I had the Morimoto kit on my forester and the FXR retrofit in my 330. Output is identical. Installation time for the Morimoto kit will be 2-3 hours. FXR will be 6-8 hours.

Light output is the same? I was under the impression that the Fx-R projectors were larger, thus more light output would be achieved. If its the same as the Morimoto Mini's then I guess I should just go with them for the easier installation.

FXR will give more light no doubt about it.

FX-R will blow ya mind, especially w/ a 55 watt ballast and 4300 K or 5000 K bulbs. Just only get the 3.0. Earlier models (my v2's) are prone to having a shitty passenger's side cutoff and not perfect like the 3.0's from TRS.
