I made it about 2 weeks earlier this year haha. Always goes back to drinking for me. I buy a pack for when I go out and when they're in the car or around and I end up smoking. Weak, yes.

So advice... less drinking?

You're not a smoker, so stop dwelling on not smoking.

Just keep telling yourself that millions of people are able to not smoke their whole lives. So giving in to the power of nicotine (breaking your quitting streak) will make you weaker than the majority of people.
More motivation than advice.

once I found out that cigarettes did nothing (not even give me the light headed-ness) anymore.

you understand all it does is kill you.

I had it easy as I depended on marijuana smoke(ive quit for about a few months now) which atleast got me high and did something to make it easier for me to quit cigarettes in the beginning. Plus I didnt need to smoke every time I get in, out, take a crap, visit, someone, in between and broke the habit of smoking 7-8 cigarettes a day.

Have some willpower, take control of your life and I promise after hard cold turkey for about 3-4 months, the smell of cigarettes will repel and disgust you. It not easy if you go out and get wasted or hang out with friends who go out and smoke on the balcony and at events as a social thing. I found it cooler to be the one in the room than out on the balcony smoking.

Ive been tobacco free for more than 12 years now and one time I got back with an ex that still smoked, and could not stand it and broke up with her pretty a55.

edit:

also tell your friends that smoke that you mean it, and to respect you and your wish to stop smoking so that they stay the hell away from you. Give your mind something else to concentrate on like candy or a magazine when on your "break" so that you stop the in between habbit of smoking the cancer sticks.

you might not realize it, but the smell IS terrible.

Do not surround yourself with smokers, especially in situations where there is alcohol. You will cave.

After last night, i might just quit. I smoked damn near an entire pack within an 8 hour drive. I feel like sh!t today. Like it feels like i got black out drunk, but without the alcohol.

Every time you want to smoke, remember that even a puff means you have to restart how long you've been a "non-smoker" for. Wouldn't you rather tell people you've been smoke free for 2 weeks rather than a day? I recently quit smoking an incredibly strong tobacco product called Dokah 8 days ago. My 3 roommates and I were pretty disgustingly addicted to the stuff for about 6 months. We tried to quit for over a month and couldn't do it because we couldn't cooperate. Someone kept bringing it around, or caving in. It just ended up in another cycle. We sat down, had a talk, and agreed that it wouldn't be brought into our house. I don't see us going back to the stuff as long as we are unanimous about our decision to quit. So my advice? Find a buddy who wants to quit cold turkey with you. Nicotine is no joke. If you're both accountable to each other like my roommates and I are accountable to each other, you will succeed. Good luck.

You're probably going to gain weight like I did because you will substitute cravings with food

Talk to your doctor about Chantix. I'm on it and for me at least it's working. Worst side-effects so far has been insomnia.

You probably just have an oral-fixation. So either chew gum or start sucking dick.
