rattling from inside sub??

Hi I'm new here and I'd like to say... I hate all of you!!!

My car was suppose to remain stock. But, ever since I found this site (about a year ago, a year after I bought my car). I have lowered my car, added 18" wheels, painted my moldings, added oem clears, tinted my windows, put in a custom made sub box, and I'm having the oem rear spoiler installed next week. And now I'm thinkging about getting an indash dvd (clarion 935)... j/k You guys have been very informative.

OK so here's my problem. I have a kicker 600.1 amp and a 10" L7 sub in a custom box. Originally I had the L5, but blew it out so the shop replaced it with an L7. However, with the L7 I constantly get this rattling/clicking sound right in the center of the sub. Originally the shop thought the sub was defective so they replaced it. I have went through 3 L7's and i'm still getting the same noise. The shop even built me a new box (since the original box was designed for the L5) thinking the airhole in the back of the sub was too close to the back wall of the box, and I'm still getting the same problem. Everything else is stock and I believe they ran hi to low converters after the stock amp.

Anyone know what the problem could be? I'm thinking about paying to have them build me a new box for 2 8" and just trash my old box.

Thanx for reading my crap.

My first thought was tinsel lead slap, where the leads from the terminal posts to the coils are hitting the cone of the driver. But if they swapped the unit out 3 times then that is not likely unless you are pushing the subs well beyond thier limits.
The other thing that sounds just like what you discribe is air leaks in the box. If it is not properly sealed, even a very small leak, the size of a screw hole will make that noise and sound like it is coming from the center of the driver.

Hope this helps,
Bob
