Does anyone know how to adjust the setting for the rear view mirror when going in reverse? My mirror adjusts really low, not useful..have somthing to do with the setting of the seat?

If the mirror tilts down when the reverse gear is engaged, that means that the mirror adjustment switch os on the left side. If you slide the switch below the knob to the right, it should stay put in reverse

So, you want the mirror to adjust when backing to observe curb and rear tire, but do not like the position the mirror uses and want the mirror to adjust to a different angle that works better for you?

Change the mirror selection switch on the door to right side mirror to stop the tilt down.

I believe there is a way you can program how much it tilts but I do not know the details.

It can be GT1 programmed with reverse tilt on or off. I've never heard of being able to auto adjust the tilt angle.

OP: All of this is in your manual.

You're probably right, but I'm still wondering about it. I've heard that if you put the car in reverse, let the mirror tilt down, then adjust it to the position you want, disengage reverse, it will memorize that position.

BMW intentionally had it tilt very low. The reason for that is to be able to see a curb and the distance to the rear tire when parallel parking.

As mentioned, this can be coded. Specifically, without coding, the mirror will point _way_ down--one position, like it or not, use it or don't. With coding, when in reverse, you can adjust the mirror to where you want it to be. Then, the next time you reverse, it will go back to the new position you've set.

Doesn't work... tried it, only way I got it a pinch up is by moving the seat

Check your mirror slide switch.

We know the reason, but the manual states that the angle is adjustable, but does not say how. As stated earlier, it is a matter of how far it will tilt, not if it will tilt and why.

To the poster about both mirrors...to my knowledge it is only the passenger mirror

One way to get it to stay where you want it is to position it where you want it and program your seat button to keep the chosen mirror position.
