Flashing top light

So my tops stopped working had the blinking light I checked the help thread didn't really help me I scanned the car and got a code wondering if anyone could help me code is "switch,cowl locked,short to ground or open circuit" if anyone could help it would be much appreciated I just wanna enjoy the top down it's almost convertible season

Might sound too simple but have you checked to see if the top storage compartment in the trunk is in the up position?

I have messed with it a few times nothing really happened though I have the battery unplugged right now guy I know said it might help doubt it though.

Does the storage compartment in the trunk open and close? I don't understand what you mean when you say you messed with it a few times.

Yes it does open and close still no idea what it could I don't really know much about convertibles

The cowl refers to the windshield, so the error is telling you there is a problem communicating with the sensor. Likely a broken wire, follow the electrical troubleshooting thread.

When my top failed to close completely one day, I found this video very helpful. My top failure was due to a broken GREEN wire in the harness as seen in the video. In the video, the user can be seen removing a clip - I found that the clip slid back and did not have to be removed.

Well I'm going to a guy here in Utah that works on BMW independent guy he said it should be a simple fix I'll keep you guys updated I appreciate you guys

The most common failure in the top is in the wiring harness at the bend point.

Well I found the issue fellas the lock mechanism has an issue we narrowed it down to that the guy I took too hasn't really touched convertibles which sucks but oh whale does anyone have any knowledge of this
