How do I get my glove box open?

Just got my first car 2 weeks ago (2002 330cic) and my glove box worked about the first week then I went to get a new CD and IT WONT OPEN! The handle moves still and I've tried locking and unlocking it several times. I want to get it open so I can get my $200 sunglasses and all my CD's (still has the business cd, working on getting a new head unit) I'm scared I might break something! Any suggestions on how to get it open?

Have you tried some of the suggestions in this thread: http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=905468?

You have the lock in the vertical position right? I am just making sure. Seen a few threads about this and found out it was in lock mode. My glove box like most of us wasn't working for over a year and I finally just got sick of it and just yanked down on it and walla it opened and to the best of my knowledge nothing broke. Currently trying to find out what part needs to actually be replaced so I have a fully functioning box again.

Best of luck.
If it makes you happy, do it!

Lots of posts on this. I have one somewhere you can search for... there are several different things to try before yanking it open. But that could work too depending on your issue

Hi all' just an idea might help, having me 2 bmw's, i often have this problem i've a 1, series 118i m sport convert and a 2004 330ci m sport convert, the glove box i found every time i have't to leave the key in and in the paralel postion and then open the glove box, this is the only way i can open it if i turn the key back to the vertical postion in which this is the only way i can remove the key, over the yrs i've found this with various cars and not to be unusual, where'as on my 1 series m sport convert 2013 reg, i can remove the key when in either postion locked or unlocked.

Hope this helps guys
