Hey I just got back from school break to try to start my car up after 2 weeks of sitting in the cold. Not working, here is video
Anyone know the problem? The low coolant sign went on and off a few times before the car worked last. |

My first guess would be a dead battery. Did you try a jump?

I don't think so. Battery is less than 6 months old. Also new starter less than 3 months too.
I opened up the coolant cap and saw there was no coolant at all. Car was parked on a incline on top of car garage so coolant all leaked out or something. Expansion tank is only like 1.5 years old..Reminder to do entire coolant system... Did I screw my car up by trying to start with no coolant? I'm going to fill up with coolant Wednesday when its about 40 degrees. I'm hoping that will fix it. Also should I try to roll the car to a flat parking spot first or is it fine on a incline? Level of coolant has nothing to do with your problem. The car will start just fine with or without coolant.
I'm not saying your battery is bad - just discharged. The symptom you show in your video is almost always due to insufficient battery voltage. If you don't have a multimeter, you can use the OBD menus to verify battery voltage (search the forums for the method for doing so). Even if its not the battery, you have to rule it out with hard facts. Even a brand new battery left to sit for two weeks with a parasitic drain can result in what you are seeing. |
