In spite of absolute correctness, to me "beemer" "porsh" and "vokes wagon" sound normal, typical, expected. Whereas "bimmer" "porsha" and "fuxvoggin" sound a little douchey.

Thing about Porsche is that it's a guys name, as I'm sure you know. So, you either pronounce the guy's name correctly, or you don't.

Exactly. Most people here don't pronounce my name correctly when they meet me in person. It's actually pronounced "Dah-veh," not "Dayv."

Jus' thought I'd clarify that.

Smartest posts ITT.

They're both slang terms. Find the authority to define what's "right" and you'll find an authoritative answer.

Until then, it's all snobbery and effeteness. Say it however you desire.

I know how much you enjoy showing off the never ending knowledge hidden behind those beautiful gold locks of sunshine, however the question was how to pronounce it, not how to spell it.

"Beemer" is the way to say it. Bimmer is how we all spell it.

If someone ever pronounced it "bimmer" like "dinner" I would ask them what is wrong with their jaw.

If that's the case, then you're pronounce both of these ^ the same way, which wouldn't make much sense. But, it's not the case, b/c you're mistaken.

You sir, are incorrect. It's Bimmer, as in Dinner, as in Winner.

Beemer, as in weiner, is WRONG.

Both are ghey to say though. When someone asks what I drive, I say an E46.. when they ask what that is, I say an old BMW.. when they ask which one, I say a 3 series.

I've had that exact conversation. It ended up going like this:

"3-Series? Is that the big one?"
"No... it's the small one of its time."
"What does the 3 even mean in 3-Series?"
"It's just nomenclature."
"What's the 30Ci mean?"
"3.0 liter coupe with fuel injection."
"Goddamn, you're weird."
