Please Kindly Respond To This Thread

This is not intended to be a racist thread at all. I have a legitimate question.

Why do many people of the Asian culture use the word "kindly" so often? It sounds out of place. Kindly give me a call. Kindly send your payment. Kindly review my drawings. etc.

I wish they would kindly use their blinkers when merging from the left lane to the exit ramp in a very abrupt fashion.

It has to do with both culture and language.
The culture part is: Asians are cautious about politeness, so they'd rather overdo a bit to sound humble and mannerly - for example by using both "please" and "kindly" in one sentence.
The language part is: people simply do what they learned in textbooks, which is usually formal and old-fashioned English. Of course those who wrote those English textbooks perhaps did so for cultural reasons in the first place.

In my experience orientals are the best black jack players. Though are always serious and never look like they are having fun.

I think they see it as a "proper" way to speak. They want to mimic American culture as much as possible in thinking they're being proper even if it is awkward, incorrect, or out of place. It's their perception

This is great. When I inquire people for document requests or any kind of information via email, I try to set a tone that is overtly friendly hoping that it will increase the odds that I will get a better response from people. I usually send an email buttering people up and end off with a closing; "Kind Regards, [name]". I'm not sure if it helps at all but I'm hoping it makes me sound more like a human being as opposed to being commanding and disrespectful.
