Please correct my asset portion of the argument. I would like to believe we aren't headed towards imminent doom and have more to offer the world.

We are consumers. Period. Our debt is a perfect reflection of that.
Number of citizens is an important factor, but as far as military training and technology, we are still superior.

I'm not even sure how to address your second point because it seems as if you don't have much of a grasp as to how our economy functions. We, as a country, export in the neighborhood of $2.5-3 TRILLION dollars worth of goods each year. On top of that the total assets of the US are upward of $200 trillion dollars.

Been in the heart of a counterinsurgency in a rebuilding nation before?

If you haven't been in Iraq or Afghanistan in the last decade, then no, you haven't.

Right?

And its funny you say that, i'm a landscape architect.

I do know, that we (meaning myself & my company) import a lot of organic composts and fertilizers for large specialized fields or large beds of perennials that cannot be made here for various reasons. Those same composts & fertilizers help to grow your food, which is probably imported anyways. I highly doubt that if indeed we became neutral, self sufficient, no imports or exports. We would not have enough days in the season, friable topsoil, uninhabited non contaminated soil to feed the masses.

Regardless of all the BS in the last few pages, the facts are there...

North Korea is threatening the US and South Korea and in turn the rest of the world. They are ignoring previously agreed on treaties and are trying their best to make weapons to destroy other countries.

Should we just wait until they launch? Or maybe until they launch and its in an allied's airspace? Or maybe we wait until it actually hits an allied? Or wait until two actually hit? Or until there are at least 100 dead? or 1000? or ?

Just bomb the sheit out of them before the war starts.

Thats where you and I differ. I don't believe in what politicians like to call "rebuilding a nation." And yes, if by counterinsurgency you mean going after terrorists, then I have been in the heart of it.

You are really wrong. We pay farmers NOT to farm. USA is extremely self sufficient. The only reason we trade is for cheaper prices and political reasons.

Your tennis shoes may cost $150 instead of $75 if made in America, but we can do it. It turn, more Americans would be working so the difference in price is made up for by the higher wages and employment levels.

etc, etc.

Don't disagree with you, but never said they weren't unbeatable. I said we shouldn't underestimate them - despite their inferior military capabilities. Like you mentioned, they do have a ton of troops, and we should also take into account intangibles such as their military culture, esprit de corps, and willpower/will to fight.

In the IDF. I did 2 years in the field, going from anywhere like the Golan Heights to the borders, to the west bank, etc. After that I moved to intelligence which was NOT in the field. Mostly computer work in a building.

No televisions are produced in America any more! The computers and phones we "need" are made else where, on and on and on.....
