That said, deal with the commute for a bit. See how it feels and explore other opportunities. Best time to look is while you are employed.
I understand the situation as a company. I realize they have to look out for themselves at the end of the day, but this just went from awesome to sh!tty real quick.

Thanks for the offer. I'd like to get out of the industry and desk job. Elk Grove is also very close to my current job. I just don't want to rack up those kind of miles on my car. Not trying to be picky or anything.

Desk job--need to improve your spelling.

rolls vs roles.

Also, breaking your lease is a simple solution if you wanted to simultaneously downsize your housing costs.

I wanst awere that spelling had an absolute correlation between ones IQ or intellectual ability. We were all human and sometimes things can go over our head.

It has nothing to do with IQ or ability. Its about taking the time and effort in one's appearance when trying to be professional.

A marginal pay cut is worth a higher quality of life (aka living in the nice area you do and not wasting 30% of your waking hours commuting). I'd find another job in the industry that you felt accomplished in.

Sorry, I don't take the time to word everything perfectly on here. I'll admit I let spell check do the work for me.

That's what I'm leaning towards. I moved down here to cut my cost of living and be closer to friends and family, etc. I like being almost inbetween the the busy north suburbs and the rural south area. If that makes sense.

I'm not going to bust your balls on wording and grammar. Relying on spell check is precisely the issue.

it won't catch roll vs role for you, but you come from a blue collar background and want to be seriously considered for a desk job. You're not going to be evaluated on your welds or your technical inspections of fire compliance--you'll evaluated on your written product (hence writing letters on a desk).

I totaly agree. I didn't take the time on here because.... it's a forum and I'm at work so not really caring about the grammar. I see your point though.

I'm also trying to go back to the blue collar field or somwhere inbetween.
