OP, what about a MKV GTI?

So much more reliable than an E46/E90.

In the AP1 S2000- it's hard to have a conversation at speed with the top down. You really do have to love it. The AP2 is a little better (they changed a few things) but not much.

I'd recommend an E36 M3. Contact Enthusiast Auto Group and they'll find you a perfect one.

I think so, but that doesn't mean he has to get beat by Prius' in his DD, lol.

I'm biased against A4's.....never been a fan until they get into the S/RS lines.

I've always been curious about their pricing and how flexible they are.

Meh, if I have the space I'd prefer dedicated vehicles.

Bike for going fast
Luxury car for commuting
Truck for hauling stuff

Yup.

Another options would be an M-Sport 128i 6 speed. They're actually pretty fun and reliable.

My mom has a 09 Mini Cooper. It's stick and pretty fun, not the go kart handling people complain about.

Mazda speed6 would be sweet and different. I have a co worker that is running almost 400hp or something crazy like that. That thing is fun to drive and rips in the turns.

What about the Saab Turbo X... if I had to buy newer I'd get one.

Oh, and.............04-07 Volvo S60r or V70r.

I got a CEL light the other day as I was pulling into the grocery store parking lot and the car started shuddering. Weird. Shut off. Turn on. No problem. Dealership says it was due to carbon buildup in the valves. They'll walnut shell blast them. That should take care of it.

Here's my old one for reference - I realize this may not be everyone's forte in fat American trucks, but they can look pretty neat.

I love those. But I drive too much (in bumper to bumper traffic) to consider something with that MPG, I think.

Yes, he does. That's why I also don't need something that will match my 335i in performance.

That's what I keep hearing. Considering this is something I'd have to drive on a daily basis (and drive it a lot) the S2K seems to be dropping down in its ranking.

Thought about it. I'm not a fan of the large mouth ones. The newer ones look great, but too much for what they are. The older ones are too old. I think there are cars that can be had for the same money while offering more. Plus, there's that VW reliability...

Mazda... I'm just not feeling the 6. Saab would be complex and expensive to maintain/fix and the same would probably go for the Volve, I'd assume.

I have a co worker that has one and acts like it's an Enzo. Plasti dip rims, Nismo stickers, race seats......and all stock. She'll dog anything from S2000's, M3's, etc. All the car guys in the office just laugh behind her back and call her out on her "mods" she claims to hae all the time.

I almost wanted to pick up a Mini, but wanted cheap and easy for me to fix myself.

The speed 6 is a different animal when you mod it, but I'll admit it's ugly depending on color too.

I've never owned a Saab but I've had 4 Volvos. None of them were hard to work on or expensive. The p2 S60 I had the longest and was pretty reliable. The only thing I had to fix when I had it was the AWD unit and two hubs under warranty. The rest was aftermarket stuff.

Do you mind older cars or do you want to stick to something newer/with a warranty?

It sounds like a Mini Cooper S is the choice! They have the most fun owners of any car I've seen. The clubs and meets are awesome.

Considering my price point, I think I'm looking at cars that are recently out of warranty...

Not so quickly. I'm not entirely convinced it passes the reliability muster.

My dad purchased a 2012 Ford Fusion SEL(meaning it has quad exhaust and a V6 instead of the four cylinder). Although it doesn't sound that great, it's REALLY powerful from a stand-still and I'm starting to become fond of its exterior styling. He wanted something cheap to toss around for a year or two before getting a 5 series or whatever so he bought this fusion. We haven't had any problems with it since we bought it (CPO), and I must say its extremely comfortable from not only a driver's but also a passenger's perspective. It's quiet, has LED's, Sirius radio, and everything's leather. Although I like the Aston Martin looking front end of the new Fusion, it's rear end just looks far too feminine for my taste. I prefer the bolder, more intimidating appearance of the 2011-2012 Fusion.
