Gold could look good on those wheels, since your car is black. The finish is something you could always change.

Here are my rims

Here is my car

As of today .... winter

Here is what im going for

I know it sounds crazy when someone says ..

"Imma gonna paint my rims gold"

Thats pretty much the response i got from my wife and kid

But on a black car it looks awesome and it dont look Getto Jalopy

How should i paint them to make sure i pull off what im going for?

Try posting this picture in the "Pimp My Ride" Thread in the showroom and ask somebody to photoshop the wheels gold. I'd post a picture of the gold that you'd prefer so they know exactly what shade to make it. Somebody recently asked for a gold wheel photoshop and the guy who did it made them look neon yellow

a lot of prep work

Used self etching primer , i chose the dark primer because i wanted a darker gold not a bright "bling" gold

Had the paint custom matched to match this photo...

They added "flatener" to the paint to move away from gloss and go for more of a satin look

1st coat

10 coats and hours later...

and outside with no sun

I did not want clear coat for a few reasons
one is the ability to touch up rock chips in the future, one is i did not want a "getto" look and lastly because every where ive read about oem rims being painted gold the owners liked the look better before they put on clear coat.

The color didn't really transfer real well from my iphone but they are satin gold heavy metallic.

I have new center caps on order so it will be a week or so before i can get these on my car and ill post some photos then hopefully the sun will be shining

That looks better than I thought it would, in for pic installed.

I'd say a suspension drop would probably be a good idea.

Also, once installed, you may find that you will like the overall look of the car if you change your window trim from chrome to black.

Thanks can't wait to see them on the car. As for the Lowering and Trim change I really like my car how it is OEM. ive invested big big $$$ in my life on aftermarket ..... everything. Im going a different route and im focusing on Proactive Maintenance and every part i change on my car is BMW parts from control arms to oil filters not messing around this time.

This was my sickness....

This was my TOY ...

I needed a vehicle to commute 45 mins 1 way everyday so i sold the Jeep and bought the BMW once i started driving the car i couldn't stop. I sold my truck because it rode and drove like a hay wagon compared to my car.

So now im down to just my car (and the wives H3x) so im going to keep things stock and working like they should and someday move up to a newer model of the same thing.

Sold my Jeep for mine too but I will say I do miss it.. anyway very nice job with the wheels. I'm not a fan of the glossy look either.

It looks better than I thought it would. Nice work. It would really help if you replaced the exterior chrome trim with black trim
