.. So its not my Voltage Regulator... :(

need help with this electrical issue.

I've been having issues with my seatbelt and airbag light turning on my dash and the radio flickering on/off while the car is at idle and/or driving. Its seems to got to a point where it does it within 15 sec of having the car on.

I though this could be the VR on my 120amp Bosch alt, but after replacing it (oval connection), issue still persists.

I hooked up my battery charger to get the voltage readings and when cold and off, the battery reads about 12.5 (which is perfect). When car on idle (no lights) the volt is about 13.4, when I turn on the high beams and fan the reading goes up to about 13.8 and if I keep the rpms at 2000, it even reached 14.

The alternator seemed solid still, no issues with bearings. the brushes on the old VR were about 1/2 of the new one so I was convinced it would be this issues...

What should be my next step? New alternator??

Check your fuses. Some could be loose or not seated properly.

do you have underdrive pulleys?
You should be getting 14v, with the car running, even at idle or just barely above 1000 rpm

The problem seems to be not so much the charging system, but wiring. Disconnect the stereo to see if that makes a difference with the other lights first.

Sounds like ignition switch to me.

Ill play around with the plugs tomorrow.. but I don't know how all of the sudden these things began happening now. Ill check my fuses as well. Also Mango, how could this be an ignition switch? The dash lights stay on (never flicker), just the radio. Also noticed the cabin light does pulsate very slightly. I noticed this today in my garage. It very faint but there.

Just ignore him. He likes to throw stuff out there and see if anyone bites.

I appreciate all the input. even Mangos

It wouldn't make sens to me if it was the Ign switch... no other lights come on the dash other the the seat belt and airbag so it wouldn't isolate only certain parts, it would trigger other dash lights such as traction controll and engine light as well like it does when key in Pos II. the radio shutting on/off seems to me like not enough power. Also i noticed the bag light getting dimmer at times (like about to turn off) and then it gets stronger again.

Can someone please tell me where the ground points to the chasis are?? I want to go through it and make sure all is tight and contacting well.

I hope its not my main board...

Just cheked, all fuses are good..

when the highbeams are on, they DO fluctuate. Its very faint, but it is doing it. also the airbag and highbeam lights on the dash fluctuate evenly as well...

I need to check all ground poits on this car. Its a CI, can anyone pin point to the MAIN ground points?

Checked all - and + ... cleaned and electrical grease applied. Same issues.

Running car with AC on radio on and high beams on... constant 13.8 at battery and engine bay. Lights DO flicker very faintly.

??? Is it possible that alternator is still gone?

If the lights didn't flicker with a smaller electrical load, then low system voltage could be an issue, but this might be a short. Try to disconnect individual electrical components involved in the airbag/seatbelt/radio circuits.

Post the voltage reading from the cluster test.

And get one of those battery/alternator testers that go in the cigarette lighter.
It'll tell you if your voltage output isn't constant (my beater's isn't - but the electrics are from the stone-age so they don't complain)

Do you mean to take out fuses one by one for the following? To see if it reacts? If there is a short, wouldn't it trigger a blown fuse?

Began playing around with fuses.... I took out the airbag fuse #11. Radio plays and I do have airbag light on dash along with seatbelt. The moment I try to put the fuse back in the radio shots off. Every time.

I mean, for example disconnect the radio, there could be a short in that.
Wiring diagram will show what else it maybe connected to.

Disconnected radio and still doing it.. highbeams flicker faintly and both seatbelt and airbag lights on.

Disconnected both seat harnesses and no change.

The only biggest difference was pulling that fuse #11 and having the radio turning off the moment I tried to put it back in...

I checked the airbag connections and everything looks good.

It wouldn't surprise me if it was a short as tgis progressed quickly over about a week of driving.

connected my PA Soft 1.4 and here is the read out

for Srs 50[080] Power supply, undervoltage

for Zke 07[007] Anti-theft system: Siren, Radio interior protection, Tilt alarm sensor or Wire STDWA short circuit to ground or open circuit
4F[079] Passenger mirror: Potentiometer axel 1/3

for Smf 0C[012] Power supply hall sensors, short to batt+

so it seems like a short somewhere...

Has it been raining a lot where you are?
If it has, there might be a short in the passenger mirror.
