I think I found my m16

It's a GM hydromatic for $20k. Verbally speaking a former owner said it may be a reweld but it has been xrayed and shows no signs of being a reweld. The paperwork does NOT reflect that it was ever rewelded.

I've not seen photos of it yet but it sounds like what I'm looking for.

Gotta love the roll marks, I'm a mechanic so a "chevy" m16 is right up my alley.

Off his word right now but ill dig deeper. To tell you the truth as long as it looks and runs good then I'm fine with that.

$20k??? Seems pricy for anything but a colt. There's a guy locally selling an Olympic arms conversion down here I think with a shrike upper, a bunch of accessories, and an m4-2000 for like 14-16

Actually, non colt USGI guns are generally more expensive than your average colt. The cheapest I have found for a non cut GM is $33k

If this is a reweld then its either priced about 4k to high...
OR if its a factory m16 than its 13k under the next cheapest one I can find right now.

It all depends on what the FIOA request comes back as. If it has a clear papertrail from day 1 and xrays fine its a hell of a deal. If line 4a has been changed durring transfer so not to reflect who did the reweld work OR the xrays come back with a weld line then its priced to high.

Even if its a reweld, if it was done by somebody like norrell I may buy it just because it has the roll markings I am looking for.

I've never seen one break and as long as the holes are in spec and the gun runs fine I'll be happy with it. It's going to be used, probably abused and it will be decades before I get rid of it so if she runs good and looks the part than paying 4k to much in the long run is a moot point.

FFL is pissing me off alittle. Somebody whos selling something for 20k should be turning over backwards to help a customer. 2 days in on this gun and I cant get him to send me photos even though its in stock and ready to transfer. His email replies are generally one or two lines at best.

Every single machine gun I've ever bought was exactly like this... Very little info and grainy pictures. It's alot like buyin a mosin sight unseen online.... you know what your getting but at the same time you dont.

Still on the hunt so if anybody sees anything feel free to link me up.

The price comes with the rarity. There were probably millions of colts made and only alittle over 400k GM m16's. Very very few are unmolested transferables.

What happined was colt went from having 0 orders to having to many when they got the contract. GM and H&R stepped in to suppliment the orders until colt could get the ball rolling.

Close, but a bit at the top of my price range. I want a shooter, something I can strip and rebuild. Probably $20k or alittle higher depending on the roll marks.

Good find though, thats one I've not seen yet.

This guy has a few that would fit my needs but he's real proud of his stuff. $33-$39k! You have to email him, AND HE REPLYS IN ALL CAPS.

I like this one but its more than I want to pay for a AR-15 marked gun.

I'll probably contact them soon about this. Right now I've got roughly 20k at my disposal. Most is still coming from stuff I sold on gunbroker. I think that gun is priced on the high end so I'm going to try to beat them down some.

If anybody sees any please feel free to post them.

They also have a transferable mini gun. That would be a nice addition. I think they said 1of 9 that are transferable
