Just a little. . Or perhaps a lot louder.

Good morning boys and girls.
I'm new to the forums after just recently buying my dream car an E46 M3. What I'd like help with is choosing an aftermarket exhaust. I absolutely love the note that the stock exhaust produces. I just want it to be a little louder. Can this be achieved by looking at a aftermarket air filter, or should I try and push my luck and go catless?
Totally clueless
Many thanks
Macky

Headers or resonator delete will help

O personally love a borla rear muffler on the m3's with the resonator deleted. It sounds and if its not enough, you can get the "ebay headers" just make sure they are the long tube ones. And a new air intake system will make a slight difference, but not that noticable. But I do recommend the borla with resonator delete. A friend if mine has the borla with a resonator delete and ebay headers and I absolutely love how it sounds

Most headers won't fit RHD. Pretty sure it's only the Super Sprint stepped ones which fit.

There's one on eBay at the moment. I know the guy selling it. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Eisenmann...#ht_736wt_1415

Otherwise I just found a company in Australia that has cheap SuperSprint and Borla exhausts - www.bestexhaust.com.au

Eisenmann Race w/ SuperSprint X-Pipe and Headers seems to be a sweet combo.

I've got a SuperSprint race muffler and x pipe on my vert. Just makes taking the top down that much sweeter

You dont need headers, RHD already have catless headers...just get eisenman or supersprint mufflers

Thanks for the info guys, I really appreciate it. I passed under a bridge here in "Magnificent Toowoomba" I downshifted just as I passed a lycra clad cyclist, scared the absolite sh:pt out of him! Love the note of the M! Of all of the exhausts I've heard on YouTube (audiophile quality I know) the Supersprint and Eismann sound closest to what I'm after. The Borla seems to sound a bit on the burbly side. I love the angry rasp of the M. If it's wrong to crack wood when you hear your car, I don't want to be right!

^ yep, they're the 2 most common exhausts. Go with either of them. Or if you want moar loudness, go titanium like Gruppe M.

The other thing to keep in mind is that most, if not all, aftermarket mufflers will drone at lower speeds.
