and.....? ok. if you're so confident in your young champion alternator with its youth and vigorous strength and abilities. dump power steering fluid directly on it while your car is running. tell me if it bogs out and your car dies.you won't damage the thing, those alternators are very tough but try it. maybe telling you to dump fluid on it gave you a horrible mental picture of it all playing out. let's downsize it a bit. get a spray bottle and lightly feather that young mighty stallion with this wonderful nectar. tells me if it even hiccups.

trust me. I know the fluid doesn't cause any immediate harm to the alternator because many of us, and recently myself have had that poorly built reservoir peeing on to it every hour of everyday. a light misting or sprinkle won't hurt it. all while monitoring your voltage readouts. if you'd rather avoid doing that, just at least humor me and my suggestion by testing my theory using a complete low cost test that couldn't hurt to try.

ah, which leads me to a joke told to me by a non bmw owner, which I wasn't sure he was saying it because I had a bmw and it was somewhat related, or he was jealous i had one, and he didn't, and he was trying to mack on my girlfriend.

what's the difference between a porcupine and a bmw? on a porcupine, the pricks on the outside.

yeah, i managed to fake a laugh as I eyed him although I didn't feel at all threatened even when he was following my woman around, attempted to teach her a game you generally play when drunk. Ha! In the end, prick or no prick I still drive a BMW!. I earned the right to be a prick! J/k. yeah, I know what you mean about folks around here. You frequently run into the what I call dictionaries and encyclopedia types. I hate the ones when a newb makes a post and the only thing they have to say is "have you tried googling or searching" or some smart a$$ comment. I always thought to myself, in the same amount of time it took them to be a prick, it probably would've taken just as long to just answer the damn question.

yeah so get back to us on that fluid leakage thing. I'm anxious to see if my "Duct tape wrapped around my limp hose" theory proves to be one major mother load causes of electrical anomalies.

OK so I've been real busy lately and haven't got around to doing anything yet but on another note i was driving today and my EML light came on twice today? i turned the car off and turned it back on and it shut off both times today. could this also be a problem causing my voltage issue?

For the love of god.I think people aren't taking my suggestion of the power steering reservoir leaking seriously. Do I sound like I'm just mentioning it as a random thing? Sure those two sound like they aren't related and in most cars it's true.in ours that thing squats over our alternator justwaiting to relieve itself on it.when that thing isn't able to keep up with power demands that's when our cars start acting funny.

The eml light? definitely could be related.once your car is starved of power, other functions that are working fine then starts thinking that it might be them that's failing tripping fault codes and all sorts of monkey see monkey do crap. Even more so when you turn your car off and back on only to find your kids having fooled you in thinking they're sleeping when in reality, as soon as you leave they break out the bong and go back to token.
