man that was sad... so many stories of these immigrant parents working so hard to become wealthy and then letting their kids live it up and just having their kids do stupid stuff like this.. *sigh* I don't know what to think of this, I just feel bad for the parents

I don't I would have trusted myself with 500HP even a year ago, let alone 22. Hell I just got my E39 M5 around my 25th BDay last fall and it scares the **** out of me at high speed, and I respect it's power. This is as a 25yr old with a few close calls and very humbling incidents in my experience.

I can bet >90% of 22yr olds with no dangerous incidents to smack a dose of reality, would have any sort of clue how quickly they can get into a catastrophe with the sheer power and speed capabilities of the E60 M5.

The father was foolish to hand the keys to a high horsepower car like that to an inexperienced kid.
Everyone is spot on in this thread. Very lucky the driver only killed himself. There's zero reason for parents to buy their kid a car like that. How many times have we heard this exact same story play out?

Sure, you can flip a 328 as well, but you have a lot more leeway before it gets to that.

My parents had enough $$$ to buy me an M3 in college, but I got a 325ci instead. I'll buy the M3 myself (some day).

Sami was longing for a BMW for his high school graduation. Sure, the parents said. Which one?

“I still remember him looking online at BMWs, and he was looking at M3s,” Rabi recalled. “And we were like, ‘Why don’t you get an M5? He was like, ‘Really? I can?’***8200;”

The sleek white BMW arrived in 2009 on Eid, the holiday that marks the end of Ramadan. Sami could not wait to drive the car to his mosque and show it to his friends.

His license plate, evoking the car’s rivalry with Mercedes-Benz, read: “BENZ ETR.” He even gave his new ride a name: “Snow White.”

Before showing it off, Sami and Rabi decided to give Snow White a bath.

Rabi insisted that he wash it alone. As the older brother who didn’t go to college, Rabi wanted to bestow his own gift on Sami, whose A’s in high school and at Virginia Tech sparked pride.

This thread makes me sick. The comments in here are ridiculous. Everyone jumping on the bandwagon in here acting like they never did anything stupid/foolish in their life. People make mistakes, some of us are lucky enough to escape unharmed and some of us aren't. R.I.P.
