Please help. on wheel fitment.

Sorry I tried searching exact specs and no cigar.

Car: 2000 E46 Sedan
Would a
Front: 18x8 et35 225/40/18
Rear: 18x9 et35 235/40/18

Cause rubbing?
If so, what tires would I need to make it not rub?

Fronts won't be an issue. The rears are a bit more aggressive than we recommend, but with those tires it might work.

What kind of whee size would you recommend and tires for the least aggressive set up?
Would u guys recommend a square set up? So 18x8 +35 all around?

You'll be perfectly fine if you put on a 235/40/18 on a 18x9 et35 wheel.
But if you decide to do a square 18x8 et35 setup you'll be fine also but a square setup is better for a daily because you can rotate the tires.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes it would be much simpler and safer to go with squared set-up. But people are telling me, that a rear wheel drive needs a staggered set-up to get the most out of it. I know my 323i only pushes about 180hp, its not that powerful but if staggered is the recommended set up, and if it has more pro's than con's than it would be the safer bet.
I don't know if I am wrong on this, somone please clarify if i am,
