Eat a local sports bar, yeah its kind of a pain but cable is just a rip off, there's usually nothing on, commercials everywhere and everything is free online anyways

I haven't had cable or satelitte for 7 years.

For a while, I just had an antenna for the TV. Two years ago, bought an internet capable TV. Used a digital antenna and hooked the TV to the router via ethernet. Watched most networks (Fox was unpredictable and didnt get ABC) and PBS, etc using the antenna.

TV came loaded with apps for Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, YouTube and so on. Did free trials of them, decided not to subscribe to any of the ones that charge. Every now and then, Netflix sends me an email with a 30 day free trial, so I'll sign up and watch some stuff. But I just dont need to pay someone to give me a reason to sit on the couch.

You are one of the "cord cutters" and its a growing demographic.

I personally love having TV and just being able to browse.

None of you people must be sports fans...

I also have like 10 shows I always keep up with on AMC, HBO, Showtime, Starz, History channel...

Plus HD movies and sports.

Netflix is weak and very limited.

You can't use theft as proof that TV is overpriced. They have a clunky business model with tons of overhead and executive bonuses but that doesn't mean they have to change to serve you. In the long run it will hurt them but right now they're able to lobby their way to ever increasing profits.

In my area where there are only 2 providers for cable you cannot pay as little as $25/month even for basic cable.

There is a package for $25/month but you need a receiver which is $16.50/month rental or $300 to buy.

With the other company its $25/month but you have to bundle your internet and home phone with them.

If you end up watching even 1 game per week at a sports bar, you've probably paid enough on your bar/food tab to justify cable. I doubt the bar is going to let you just sit there and watch the games for free and honestly, I don't think I'd want to.

Same here. If I had more channels I would watch more hockey, but I can live without it. I catch a few games here and there and golf on the weekends from time to time. That is about all I need.

I have CNBC on all day, but I'm doing more listening than watching. It's background noise while I work or do research. At night I like to stream movies and shows from my computer to my TV.

I agree, plus sometimes nothing beats relaxing a home with a beer or some scotch watching a game or movie in privacy. Watching a game at a sports bar can add up $$$ quickly plus the privacy of your own home is just priceless. I love watching everything in HD so netflix is not an option it has shitty quality.
