Need College Car/Motorcycle combo

Looking to get more fun for the money while in college (expensive as s***). Not that I don't enjoy my 330i, but at 144k miles it hard to convince myself to do a track day or autocross out of fear the subframe will snap. Anyway, I was thinking about selling and buying a 97 kouki 240sx with a rb25det swap (turbo I6). Seems pretty bulletproof and idk how an engine swap shows up on insurance? Lower insurance would be a plus. Also more seriously wanting to get a starter bike like an old ninja 250-600.
For those of you into 240s or bikes lmk what you think. I'm still tempted to keep the 330 till it dies...

your suggestions seem sound. a 250 ninja is a great starter bike and is pretty cheap on insurance as well as getting 60+ mpg even when you beat the hell out of it.

No way you won't spend more money on a turbo 240 than a 330. The mod bug will hit, and then the repair sickness will set in. I've had a 250 ninja and a 750 nighthawk. Both can be had for the same money, but the ninja is a much better starter bike and gets much better mpg.

If I sell my car, the budget for the bike would probably be 1500-2k and the car around 7k, a rb25 may be hard to find, but the sr20s aren't bad.

Bike:
Kawasaki 250/500
Car:
E30/miata

These are assuming you want fun, cheap, and reliable.
Keep in mind you will need to know how to work on a car if you're getting a cheaper car like these but they will be fun as crap.
Honestly, get a miata or e30 and put GC coil overs on them and I PROMISE you you won't have more fun in anything else. You might not eve want a bike after turning it into a street legal go cart.

The Ninja 250 is a great college / starter bike. I had one when I was in college, and it fits your price range.

One thing people don't think about, at least at a lot of schools, a bike lets you park anywhere. I rode that thing to class all the time. Plus, the womenz will go crazy for it, even a Ninja 250 (they don't know the difference).

Lastly, the bike WILL get beat up at college. Parked all over campus, it will get rained on, maybe pushed over, etc. No reason to subject an expensive bike to that abuse. Wait until you have a house with a garage to get something nicer.

That's what Im thinking. Better gas mileage would be a plus too. I'm leaning toward either a ninja 250 or sv650. From what I've read they are both good starter bikes.
