looks like it was about the 4 hours mark of the race, which is one of the busiest finish times for a marathon. so this would have been a prime time to detonate. the fastest runners will finish in just over 2 hours. wonder if it had to do with the international flags near the finish? some sort of political statment.

Some on Reddit are saying at least 3 dead, and a Boston news source said they've located more devices and evacuating buildings.

But you know how news is right when something happens.

Could of been a man hole blowing, or some sort of natural gas explosion.

Happens once in awhile here in Detroit. But no one is ever around to get hurt.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but methane burns really clean and doesn't leave white smoke. Not to mention the explosion would have been directed up, and not out.

There have been several electrical fires/explosions in that area in the last year or two. Our mayor does not believe in spending on infrastructure until something falls down or explodes.

That said, I'd guess it was a crazy BU student that set off a few bombs.

most hydrocarbons burn fairly clean. could be a natural gas explosion. looks like it was near an outdoor restaurant seating area. maybe they had those propane heaters out and one malfunctioned? people should have smelled a gas leak though i would think.
