Didn't mark driveshaft- Balance issues?

I can't find ANYTHING on this, so I'm thinking we're the only people stupid enough to have not marked the damn driveshaft.

500km later my URO centre bearing (did not ask for this brand, pissed that I got the cheap crap) failed. I then ordered a Meyle centre bearing and got a SWAG bearing? Same thing?
Either the bearing was crap or the driveshaft was out of balance -or a combination of both-.

The 330i has a CV joint on the diff flange instead of a conventional U-joint. Would there be any reason that means I wouldn't have to make sure the driveshaft went back into the exact right spline?
Why is it that some people are saying E46 driveshafts are marked... mine clearly isn't.

Now that we've done so, do I need to take it off and get it balanced by a shop?

Mine was marked and looks to be from previous owner replacing CSB.
Although URO isn't welcome brand on this forum, it's hard to believe that it failed at 500km.

I'm guessing your driveshaft is out of balance, but not sure where you can take it to get balanced. Have you tried dealer?

I know U joints need to be in the same phase or planar alignment, assume the that is true for CV joints as well?

So if the spline was separated then it may be out of phase or planar alignment?

Each half of the driveshaft is balanced, so if you're within a spline or two, you're close enough. But, the other thing that will cause a center bearing to fail is improper installation of the Universal Joint (aka giubo/guibo/flex disk coupling).

You can have driveshaft balanced, but maybe see if you can figure out how to get it proper based on jfoj's comment...if you can tell.

Anyway, on the universal joint, if you're off by one bolt, you're off by a mile. The thick part needs to be on trans side pushing down on the driveshaft...it rotates counter clockwise looking at it from the rear.
