Uhm, why? Havent seen any information saying that the protective plastic is supposed to make it waterproof. It simply lines the glass to protect it from shattering. The plastic doesnt cover anything other than the glass, how would that help?

All the places where water could enter, for instance charging dock, have a rubber lining inside the cover to prevent water from coming in.

Please provide me with a link that states otherwise....

the reason that phone is encased and sealed is so it could be ip57 certified. Sure, it doubles as shatter protection, but that's not their primary function in using it

It only covers the glass, why would glass need waterproofing? Link showing it is for waterproofing?

Guys stop arguing over semantics for the love of whatever you believe in.

The phone is heavily water resistant, maybe even water proof depending on your definition. Who cares how it got that way.

Both the Sony Xperia Z as the HTC One are two devices that stand out for their original and striking design. The Sony Xperia Z has a more elegant and sophisticated straight lines and all their faces covered in glass resistant. The choice of this material is very successful from the aesthetic point of view but the downside is that it gets dirty easily contact fingers and also a fall could break the surface, howeverthe frame is made of polyamide fiberglass, a material very hard and difficult to break. The flagship of Sony stands by incorporating IP57 certified, this seal ensures that the housing is completely waterproof and can prevent ingress of water or dust on the track.

that guy says the same thing. trusted source in mobile review

It may be a nice phone, but the HTC One is in a different league than the Sony Xperia Z from a design standpoint.

I think you need some more suggestions before purchasing iPhone, because so many brands are revealing more features than the iPhone. Like SonyExperia Z is revealing their features.
