Hey guys,

I have also been looking at this car. Seems like he is dropping the price again. Apparently the gearbox was done properly at a shop in brisbane.
I was turned off so far because of the interior... not sure if the cloth will look grubby. It is in brisbane so a bit of a flight to go have a look.

Wondering if its worth just getting an SMG such as http://www.carsales.com.au/private/d...%3a2000%2c2006

And converting it to manual when i get sick of the SMG...

Also has anyone here done the conversion and what shops can do it in australia ? Any idea of costings ? I cant seem to find much info on it in aus but plenty of places do it in the US.

Cheers_nr_

I would say that the conversion is around the same as SMG pump replacement. In and out, you'd be looking at around the $5k mark.

Some people prize the cloth interior over the leather... but that's personal choice. Nothing that a handheld steam cleaner and a couple of hours can't fix anyway.

Still cheaper to repair the SMG if it failed. If its not your preference hold out for an original H pattern car.

It's not a given that it'll break.. just like how the subframe doesn't fail on every single one. I would buy based on condition and maintenance history. I wouldn't consider a converted car given how plentiful solid examples are.

I'm not going to read more bullshit than I already have, But ****sake, just buy a car. They all come with problems and are money pits, Jump into the deep end and enjoy the big head **** that is BMW, And as soon as any problems/upgrades have been sorted, Enjoy it!

No hate intended at all .

I should have been more specific. Once you buy the it, and sort the problems, You will instantly fall in love with it. I have come from no BMW experience at all, And the last year has been a roller coaster, It's just taking that first step to find the model that will hit you as a car lover, and working with the ups and downs it throws you

Sens looks great. Still thinking about it. Im sure in the 40s is a good price for it considering the low klms however I was trying to keep my budget a bit less than that. So i have more money for repair/ mods
