Do you ever call people out on their fake m3/m5 etc?

Around where I am from, I see fake M3's, M5's etc all of the time. On multiple occasions I've passed the owner as he(its always been a guy in my experience) is getting in or out. I will always say "nice 323i" or "nice 525i", picking the lowest trim model possible to compliment even though the car is badged with "M_" all over it.

Most of the time they look back with an expression that says "FU", but one time someone actually got excited and said thanks...ha.

I just don't get the logic behind this. The only people that care whether your BMW is a 325/330 or an M3 are people that will be able to tell if it is a fake one and will simply think your an idiot....

That's an absolutely fantastic way to get your car keyed, and your face punched in.

Not really, i don't say it like a dick more just a passing comment. Would come across as sincere if it weren't fake badged.

Not too worried about someone trying to punch me in the face anyways.

I like asking them questions about their car and hearing how dumb they sound.

I had a guy in an E46 M3 follow me home one day to ask if I was driving an M3 I don't even think I could have asked him a question about his even though it was real.

Playing dumb is even better. I act like I know nothing about their car to hear them ramble. People are much easier to get talking about their car when they don't feel like they're being interrogated.

I ignore it most if the times. The only time I have said something is when I have to sit there and listen to this loser talk about his 335 and talk about how powerful it is, when I know 100% that it was a 328. Exhaust gave it away, for starters.

"Dude I hate to tell you this but if the dealer sold you a 335, they can get in big trouble. You have a 328"

Then he turns into a muttering stuttering prick lol. Loss for words, told me it was a 335 and they must have changed the exhaust. I didn't bother with explaining that he has a 328 bumper either....

But ya, back to the op. I'm not a dick, I wouldn't go out of my way to say "you didn't out smart me"

If they are offended they shouldn't put false crap on their car. Oddly enough most time the car is pretty clean and well kept except for poser badges.

+1

Not to slam OP's thread, but I didn't find it worth while to create drama by calling someone out against their car.
However I always get a giggle when people assume my M3 is a 325 or 330. "yeah....3 series"

You guys are acting like i attack them or something. I get a kick out of offering a sincere sounding compliment about their car and call it the type of car it actually is. If they get pissed then they shouldn't put fake badges on the car....

There, now keep flaming away call me a dick all you like i think its fun.

I buy plastic chrome-looking letters at AutoZone and stick them around it so it says "AL///MOST"

We always get people at the dealership with a million ///M bages on their lower model BMWs. I just let it be. Who cares really? It's their damn car, not mine.

I realize that nobody reading this because of what's posted above, but I get tempted to call people out for doing that. But I don't. I just keep letting them look like a douchecanoe.
