You don't say it like a dick, but you come accross as a dick.
Your choice.

I just laugh to myself when I see one

Good point. I've wondered the same thing.

they can't tell the difference between the regular 3,5 series and M..so they think that others are in the same boat
the do know that M cars are way more expensive
OP, just let it be
I just don't understand what exactly you're trying to prove to them or to yourself?
direct your energy towards other things that will benefit you.

I usually get slightly annoyed by them, mainly because it's ALWAYS a E36 316i
And i've even heard talking them about the extreme performance of their ''M3''
And the only thing they modded outside of the badges, is a huge PVC pipe they found, and now they're using them as exhausts...

I don't live in a poor part of town. M3s and M5s are beaters around here. People are embarrassed enough to be caught in one instead of their Bentley or Maserati.

My Ride: my favorite two feet
I think I've only done it once in my life regarding some genius with a e36 318i full of "m" badges and fender vents. I was at a starbucks and saw him pull up "hard" as the kids say. Then he got out and was in line behind me. He was so full of "the swag" he had to ask people in line what we thought of his new car. When he turned around to ask me I said..."Funny I thought the only M3 to have a 4 cylinder for an engine was the E30 M3...Must be my mistake." Thankfully I was able to take my order before brostatus got a pointless rebuttle comment in.

When I had my ZHP, this kid was like "Nice fake M3."

I asked him if he knew what the difference between an M3 bumper and M-tech II was... he had no idea. Scrub.

That is creepy man, I'm not sure how i would handle that. That's literally like asking for attention.
