I like the sport button on the e39 m5, but hate it on the e46 m3, just way too touchy when coming out of corners.

If it was me i would have it always in oem sport mode so the driver is getting full throttle response all the time. not some random % of what they are actually imputing into the pedal.

but hey i guess these cars are ment to go fast at 100% throttle and reguardless of sport or non sport when you are at WOT your still getting the 100%
I never drive the car in "sport" mode vs normal. The power delivery is identical, you just have better throttle control in normal mode. When the car is in sport mode it is overly aggressive and jerky since a smaller throttle input gives a larger actual throttle output. No matter what it can only go to 100%! Like I said, we can have it either way. It could also be normal on pump gas and sport on race gas.

I've always wondered about this sport vs non sport concept. I think I understand that with or without, at 100% throttle, the car performs the same. So if 2 identical Ms (one with sport engaged and one without) do a 3rd gear pull from 5500 rpm. Would those 2 cars stay even? And would they also be even at the drag strip in the quarter?

If you were stopped and both cars slammed on the gas not one would be farther ahead.

If they both had this kit, it would be whoever has the stickier tires!

This is ok Luke, That's why the option exist for us to get the Sprint Booster and take what the sport button use to do to another level of hyper sensitivity

Really awesome stuff guys!

How difficult would it be to set "normal" mode up as a sort of eco mode where you run with the wastegate open until something like 50% throttle as a measure to increase city driving efficiency. I know the S62tu (F10 M5) employs a similar strategy.

How much flexibility to you have with tuning the traction control? Can it be setup to work with the ABS system so you can set a front to rear speed difference or something like ProEFI has?

I used to feel the same way about the sprts button and even made a thread about it. But after a few year in, I now turn on the car, and press sports button and dsc button right away. Get used to it, give it some time, and going back to normal mode is very tough.

Awesome feature to be able to keep the sports mode mapping and use the button to switch maps!

Don't quote me on this, but I believe you can go to the stealership, and after paying a large fee they can program your car to always have those on/off when you start the car. I tried at my local stealer, they said they have heard of it but didn't knowhow to do it
