Question Which % tint should I get on my E46?

Hi all.

I know very little about tinting. Just what the percent means, and the legal limit in my state. (50/35/35...front side/rear sides/back).

This is my car (not the actual one).

I want it to look classy, but not too dark. I'm thinking 20%.

Thanks!

I wouldn't go darker than 35. But I don't really like tint.

I'm going to get 20 when I do mine again. I had 35 and it was too light during the day.

Looks like we have the same car

I did 25% rear and 40 or 50 % in front can't remember , but here's a pic for reference.

35 is the common answer you'll get. I went a little darker with 25% all around.

most states are 35% but thank you lord im from the "Country" Texas they allow 5% in the rear all around and 25% in the front. although my car has 20% since you will barely be able to tell the difference anyways by 5%

here's my baby

My car has 20% on the rear, and 35% up front.

If I were to do it again I would go 20% all over or 35% all over.

20% all around or 35% all around.
I think mismatched tint doesnt look good.
Go with consistency.

I got 20% all around on my steel gray and I am happy I went with it.

These pictures completly convince me that 35% is the only way to go.
And I drive thru the desert southwest every summer and the car stays totally comfortable.

i feel like those that want lighter window tint must not have enough sex in their own cars... wont lie i've done it lol. the extra privacy is pretty nice. plus i've also just chilled in my car when some friends were looking for me although i was sitting in the back seats, i was just watching them walk around the house and parking lot

also the pic in my Sig is 35% before i got it re-done and as you can tell thats toooooo light....

I went with 5% all around. DON'T do that.
Whatever's light then 5. I have to roll my windows down sometimes making turns
At night. It looks sick though.

It gets hot sometimes. And that's the ONLY reason I've even considered tint. It looks stupid IMO and anything darker than 35% just looks obnoxious and takes away from a clean look.
I also hate the way tint feels on the inside of a car. Makes it seem like the glass is never clean.

I was thinking about doing 20-25 rear door nd back window nd 35 on the front door. I got a steel gray with black interior. The color of the interior has a lot to do with how dark the windows look.

Have to love FLA "Florida law allows a net VLT of 28% on the two front side windows, and a net VLT of 15% on the back side and rear windows. Keep in mind that this is a net VLT of the film plus the glass! Glass does not have a VLT of 100%. Most automotive glass has a VLT of 68%-82%. So the proper window film must be installed to make sure that the total net VLT is within the legal limits!"
