Stutter diagnostic

Figured I would throw this out and see what you guys think. 2003 ZHP, 120K.

Within the last year Ive had 2-3 stalls. After the stall, the car starts right back up. Runs 100%. Had codes read, it was a intake o2 issue. So i changed all the boots.

But this morning, 6th gear.... a little blip on the throttle..... stutter, stutter, 4th gear blip.... stutter, stutter...... EML light comes on, low bouncing idle as I coast into a parking lot.

A little cursing later, I start it up: no lights, smooth idle for about 3-5 seconds. Then low bouncy idle, but no lights.

Turn car off, curse some more then try again: same results.

Called the bossman, was about to call AAA for a tow. Figured I would give it one more try. This time I kept the throttle about 50% after I started it, ran smooth, reved up to 4K a few times. Let off the throttle, car idled fine. Drove to work, no issues. I plan to get the codes read this weekend.

My thoughts:

Possibly fuel pump and or filter, both were changed out to OEM about 10K ago.
Clogged injectors?

Highest probability: Vanos. Its making noise, I have the besian rattle and seal kit sitting in my garage. Ive just been timid todo it.
Will vanos issue throw codes?

What are the thoughts from the E46fanatics??

Thanks

Without reading the codes, we can only guess. And probably guess wrong.

Probably wouldn't hurt to have a shop update your DME to the latest code revision. It solves some similar stuttering issues, although not exactly what you're describing. Check out the link in my sig.
