So I see a few in here saying he should be in jail for years for punching the ref in a moment of heightened emotion.

Yet when a guy doesn't get out and rock his neighbor for punching his car, he's a pussy.

Hypocrisy is so amusing.

take away the soccer field... and this is still an assault. Kids today think the law doesn't apply to them. If you hit a teacher, coach, or referee you will be tried in court. There were some kids here beating on a bus driving and was charged. This kid who hit the ref will not see daylight for a long time.

yeah, that really bothered me too, but then you'd think that only in a rec league do you get hooligans that would pull sh!t like this...people who are actually talented and play at higher levels like professionals would probably have more experience and understanding of the game, but when those professionals start throwing punches it gets labeled as entertainment

pussy maybe, but at least not a fool that lands in jail for assaulting someone for punching a piece of metal. destruction of property doesnt give you a carte blanche to assault someone, that's what law enforcement is for.

That's my view as well. But if you observe, many members on here flip flop when it serves their purpose. Maybe if they were there, the ref even would have "deserved it" in their eyes, now that he died hell- what an ass the kid was- should be thrown in jail for two decades!

If you see someone vandalize your stuff, call the cops. It's not worth starting some crazy fight over nonsense like that.

I think our society is WAYYYYY to overloaded with guys who feel they need to prove something by picking fights.... if you ask me, the p@ssy is the guy who can't control his emotions.

Not really sure how you compare an unprovoked attack to that of vandalization which could be argued as self defense?

Were talking about a "call" whether it was a bad or good one by a ref. Bad calls happen all the time and you as a player suck it the hell up and play on... Not punch the ref in the face. That doesn't make you tough that just shows your immaturity and lack of respect. This is totally different than if you see someone vandalize your property, at that rate if I saw someone, I'd run out with a bat but again that's totally different than a refs call.

Just my .02

I'm sorry but this is so ignorant. People act like "today" is worse than yesterday.

Involuntary Manslaughter...will probably get 5 years if a jury can actually push through the pain to remember that someone died.

I don't know much, but is that true? Imagine you hit the guy in the head with a baseball bat who punched your car. Then he dies. Seems to me the same charges would be filed, no?

Please elaborate as to how it's different, because I'm having trouble seeing it. Attacking your property is different from attacking you or a loved one.

If you can't take a call from a ref, bottom line is you shouldn't be playing sports. It's a rec sports game. Idk how you don't see that being different than somebody "punching" or throwing a rock through your windshield..? AND as stated above its soccer lol. If he wants to be tough he should go try football hockey lax.
